The more I contemplate my existence in the context of increased longevity the more it seems my life arc has a fairly small set of possible themes and stages. Oh sure in life arcs there are likely infinite variations and nuances just as there are melodies in music. But it feels like within all those individual lives there are clusters or types of paths just as there are scales and keys in music.

When I was younger I scorned certain life paths as obvious, default or easy. But with experience has come a small amount of patience and a deeper understanding that there is no one path better or more significant than another. We all choose and reinforce our own individual path with every decision and action we make.

Perhaps its better when choosing our path to have foresight so we can make informed decisions and choose our direction wisely – but even as I write this I think following your intuition is perhaps more powerful than foresight.

Foresight can lead to stagnation – intuition can lead to spontaneity.
But I’m not far enough along to say either of this with any conviction.
