I’m still slowly working through the huge stash of source images for Light Signatures and thinking more about how to present them as physical objects with actual depth past the two dimensional plane of a traditional photograph. To that end I’m visualizing them more as three dimensional objects when I work on them and imagining how they will look as something you can see in to – something that has shifting perspective when you move around them.

I’ve also begun to use a tablet to better help me paint in the texture and colour and to more intuitively reveal the image within. This week is the first example and I think it’s worked well – although I need to figure out how to better control it so I can retain the sharpness of the shapes and events in the image. I’m pleased with the tablet though because of its pressure sensitivity I’m able to more accurately and smoothly merge the colours in a smooth and less artificial manner.

Lots to figure out in my work flow and all the many shortcuts it provides so that I can work quickly and smoothly as I’ve been doing in the past with the mouse. I was pretty apprehensive about it, but all in all I think I like it.
