hope bay

I have a lifelong emotional connection with Hope Bay. I have collected images of Hope Bay over that entire time, but it wasn’t until recently that I began to purposefully explore my collection.

For me, Hope Bay is a beautiful place for calm mental regeneration. I have been coming here since early childhood, camping, hiking and skiing its wooded trails. For the past five years I and my family along with many others, have been prohibited from coming to this beautiful, peaceful place. To combat the sadness and anger within me about our situation, I began seeking to complete photographs I had made of Hope Bay over the years from my back catalogue.

Hope Bay is a beautiful, calm, peaceful, rough and rocky part of the Niagara Escarpment situated on the Eastern edge of the Bruce Peninsula on Georgian Bay – which is essentially part of the Great Lakes system. Its deep cool waters and rocky shores are a unique part of the Ontario landscape not found anywhere else. I wish I was there now.
