Daylight Savings
The daylight savings time switch has completely changed the times when I shoot and consequently the lighting is drastically different. It’s much brighter in the morning and almost night when I ride home after work – no more sunsets. Because I’m shooting with a pinhole and need a specific shutter speed to get the effect I’m looking for, I’m limited to adjusting the ISO sensitivity of the camera to control light levels. This has altered the character of the Convergent images in some interesting and unusual ways. I’m getting a much broader range of possible images like this one – which at first I was kind of bummed about but on closer inspection – I think are actually quite interesting… in an unforeseen way.
I’m glad too because I was beginning to feel bored with the similarity of the images I was seeing – only incremental improvements no fundamental variations. And initially I was thinking these images were failures since they didn’t have all the elements I had originally envisioned. But on deeper inspection, they’re a valid and interesting variation on the theme.
